Manaus (AM) – Even before sunrise this Sunday (10), more than 1,200 women were already gathered in front of Manauara Shopping for the first edition of the “Mulheres Largam na Frente” race. The event, held by Manauara and Amazonas Shopping, part of the Allos group, brought together elite athletes, with specific categories for wheelchair users and people with visual impairments, and also welcomed hundreds of amateur runners. The event was marked by the celebration of female empowerment and has already established itself as a landmark in the city’s sporting calendar.

In addition to encouraging sports among women, the competition distributed R$12,000 in prizes in Manaus, as well as trophies and medals. Originating at Shopping Taboão, which is part of the Allos portfolio in São Paulo, the race has already become a tradition among the platform’s shopping malls. This month, editions of the race were held in shopping malls in the cities of Belém and Fortaleza.

The start and finish of the race took place at Manauara Shopping, with a complete structure to ensure comfort for the runners. Along the route, hydration points and firefighter support were offered. At the end of the test, a relaxation space was available, with massages to help participants recover. The awards ceremony also featured a live band, transforming the moment into a huge party.

Manauara Shopping’s Marketing Manager, Karla Henderson, highlights the importance of the race for the city. “These events promote health, well-being, integrate family and friends, reinforce women’s strength and journey in search of their place in society, in addition to boosting the local economy and attracting visitors to the region. Therefore, we are always committed to promoting inclusive initiatives like these, which strengthen Manauara Shopping’s ties with society, the strength of women and integration between people.”, she reinforces.

The Amazonas Shopping Marketing Manager, Ivanna Passos, highlights that the race was a success and a celebration of female union. “I’m sure this is a race that will join the city’s regular street racing calendar”, she points out.

Winners

The big winner of the race was Venezuelan Roselvys Del Valle, 29 years old, who completed the 6 km in an impressive 20 minutes, 29 seconds and 84 tenths. With more than 20 years dedicated to racing, she has lived in Brazil for 5 years, where she participates in the main professional competitions, and is proud to highlight that her presence on the podium is recurring. “I’m grateful to have first place. I hope to continue doing my best here,” she highlighted.

The race involved women of all abilities and physical conditions, and also had specific categories for wheelchair users and people with visual impairments. Marleide Sales, 50 years old, was the winner in the wheelchair category, and says that the race changed her life, bringing her quality of life. In addition to first place in the race, she won another great prize: the news that a shopping mall will sponsor her to participate in the 2024 Rio Marathon, in June. “It’s been almost two years since I started running. I train every day at the gym, from Monday to Friday, and I am present at every race. I already have so many trophies and medals, I don’t even know how many”, she celebrates.

Participants in the collaborator category and team competitions were also awarded prizes. The prizes to the winners were presented by superintendents Leonardo Moretti, from Manauara Shopping, and Rafael Saldanha, from Amazonas Shopping.

But not all participants were professionals. Among the amateur runners were lawyer Jade Amorim, second lady of Amazonas (she is married to the vice-governor of Amazonas, Tadeu de Souza). She says she is starting her career in racing as a way to have a better quality of life. “It was a fantastic experience to meet this group of women here who demonstrate strength. This race demonstrates a little that women are about life, their determination, their persistence,” she points out.

The final result and all information about the race will be available at
