Cuca praises Osorio, but mentions “beans and rice” at Athletico

Cuca stated that he promoted the basics in the rout of Athletico 6-0 over the London, a game that marked the debut of the new commander. After the 1-0 defeat in the first leg, Furacão needed a two-goal victory to advance to the semifinals of the Paranaense Championship.

Asked about the differences in the style of play proposed by predecessor Juan Carlos Osorio, Cuca praised the Colombian. According to the Brazilian, Osorio’s proposal takes longer than he had to be effective.

“Osorio has innovative ideas. He was playing with a diamond in the middle. It was interesting, but it’s a system that requires more time to take effect. The European uses it a lot too. He certainly brought it from there and he’s a great coach”, he assessed.

Cuca wants athletes to interact

The red-and-black coach had said that he wants to create a family atmosphere in the Athletico group, as the athletes spend a lot of time together on a daily basis. Cuca cited Palmeiras, Flamengo and Atlético-MG as clubs that are ahead of Furacão and explained that these teams had fewer signings.

“I talked to the players about this. The championship is one family against another and we see this union growing. We have eight different players. If you say that this is 30% of the squad, there won’t be the necessary chemistry to measure strength. You It will need training, games”, he concluded.

With Cuca, Athletico now waits for the winner of the duel between Operário x Azuriz to find out the semifinal opponent. The game takes place this Monday (11), at 8pm, in Ponta Grossa, after a 0-0 draw in the first leg;
