Manaus (AM) – Luizinho Vieira is no longer coach of Amazonas FC. In the early afternoon of this Tuesday (16), the club announced the coach’s dismissal five days before his debut in the Brazilian Championship Series B, against Sport-PE. In a statement, Aurinegro announced that the contract between the parties was ended amicably.

The coach’s dismissal comes two days after Amazonas FC was runner-up in Amazonas – Manaus FC was champion on penalties after a 1-1 draw in normal time. In a post-game press conference, the president of Onça-pintada, Weslley Couto, went so far as to say anything about Luizinho Vieira’s dismissal and blamed the refereeing for the setback.

Luizinho Vieira took over the Eastern Zone Jaguar in 2023, in the final stretch of the Brazilian Series C, starting from the third round of the final quadrangular. The coach won the remaining four matches and guided the Aurinegra team to access the Series B and the Brazilian Series C title. Under the command of Amazonas FC, there were 25 games, with 15 wins, six draws and four defeats.

In 2024, Luizinho was champion of the first round of Barezão, reached the unprecedented third phase of the Copa do Brasil, but fell in the quarterfinals of the Copa Verde to Remo-PA. In a statement, Aurinegro announced that the contract between the parties was ended amicably.
