Federal deputy Kim Kataguiri (União-SP) reported this Tuesday (16) that he filed with the Ethics Council of the Chamber of Deputies a request for impeachment against deputy Glauber Braga (PSOL-RJ), for having attacked the political activist and member of the Movimento Brasil Livre (MBL), Gabriel Costenaro, kicked and pushed inside the premises of the National Congress.

“We are going to file today, not only with a legal process, but also with a representation at the Ethics Council asking for the deputy’s impeachment. It is absolutely unacceptable for a parliamentarian to expel and attack an ordinary citizen who came to talk to parliamentarians with whom he sympathizes, and for the deputy to hit a person because he ideologically disagrees with that person,” said Kataguiri during a press conference in the Chamber.

At the press conference, Costenaro explained that he came to the Chamber to defend the rights of Uber drivers in the regulations proposed by the government for app workers. He says that he was visiting the deputies, when deputy Glauber Braga, came up to him and began to curse and defame him.

The moment of the attack was released in a video on social media. The parliamentarian appears accusing Costenaro of having attacked the mother of a PSOL activist and pushing him out of the building. During the confusion, it is possible to hear shouts of “out, MBL”.

“He [Glauber Braga] I had already said in the plenary that when he saw me, he would attack me. This is recorded and this is what happened. He arrived and defamed me, attacked me, said that I threatened people and that was a lie. He kicked me out. How long will this happen from the Chamber?”, he declared.

After the attack, some deputies, such as Kim Kataguiri, accompanied Costenaro to the Legislative Police Department (Depol) to file a complaint. At this time, Kataguiri says that he was approached by Glauber Braga, calling him a “Nazi” and threatening him. “He just couldn’t attack me because the police stopped him,” said the São Paulo deputy.

In response to the attacks, deputy Glauber Braga published a video on social media stating that he “regrets nothing”.

“This MBL guy has a history of attacking women. It’s his 5th provocation! The 4th time he threatened the mother of one of our militants over 70 years old, saying he knew where she lived. There is already a police report about this! I don’t regret anything I did! I’m not going to back down to becoming an MBL fascist!”, wrote Braga.

The opposition leadership repudiated the aggression promoted by deputy Glauber Braga. “We cannot tolerate this type of behavior in the Brazilian parliament. Therefore, we will support all requests for revocation, which this episode will cause”, said the opposition leader, Filipe Barros (PL-PR).

“I, personally, have only one doubt as to whether this is just an Ethics Committee case, or whether deputy Glauber also deserves a rehabilitation clinic, which is what it seems to me”, added the deputy from Paraná.
