Robinho returns to Santos and divides opinions

Convicted of rape, Robinho he regained access to Santos and divided opinions internally. Robinho’s presence at a Santos squad barbecue last Tuesday (27) divided opinions within the club and among Santos fans.

Robinho was already close to president Marcelo Teixeira and his presence at CT gave the impression of rapprochement between the former player and the club. Part of the Fish Council was uncomfortable with the situation and expressed this on social media.

Robinho had already been living the routine of being the father of a Santos player since last year. Robson Junior, his son, plays at the base, in the under-17 team.

Robinho’s presence in the base field, the same one that the Sereias da Vila share for physical work and training, was a cause for concern. According to the UOLsome players felt uncomfortable seeing the former player there.

During Andres Rueda’s management, Robinho was just an athlete’s father. He was not barred, but he also did not receive perks or have access to the club.

This Tuesday, the player had access to the barbecue of the Santos committee and squad without any restrictions. He was convicted by the Italian courts for rape committed in 2013.

Robinho was sentenced to nine years in prison in 2022 for group sexual violence committed against an Albanian woman in a nightclub in Milan in 2013.

The sentence has not yet been accepted by the Brazilian courts, so Robinho normally lives between Santos and Guarujá. He traveled during Carnival, but does not leave the country for fear of being arrested.

The attacker lives off income accumulated during his career. He plays footvolley, accompanies his son at Santos and competes in training games with other medallions at the Portuguesa Santista CT.

Robinho has not officially announced his retirement, but he has not played since 2020, when he played for Basaksehir, in Turkey. Close friends say he has no financial problems.
