O Coritiba is finalizing the sale of the striker Edu to the Cerro Porteño, from Paraguay. The 30-year-old athlete will definitely join the Assunção team – the prices were not disclosed by the club. The information was initially released by Nadja’s blog and confirmed by OneTwo Sports.

Edu started the season as a starter in Coxa’s attack, but was absent from the team after the fourth round, when he suffered a blow to his leg. With the hiring of Leandro Damião for the center forward position, the athlete is no longer part of Alviverde’s plans.

Initially, the number 99 would replace Slimani until the return of the African Cup of Nations, but with the Algerian’s departure to KV Mechelen, in Belgium, Coxa went to the market looking for a new number 9.

Costing R$600,000, Edu arrived at Coxa in July 2023, permanently, with a contract until the end of this year. At the time, the athlete arrived to compete for the position with Rodrigo Pinho, but had few opportunities. Since arriving, he has played 14 games, including five as a starter, and scored two goals.
