Corinthians like the Titanic – 03/03/2024 – Juca Kfouri

Ten years after falling in the group stage of the state championship, Corinthians is once again out of the knockout stage.

In 2014 it didn’t even seem that serious because the team had just won the Libertadores and the second world championship two years earlier. There was such a huge balance that no one cared.

Then came the Brazilian titles of 2015 and 2017, in addition to the tri at Paulistinha in 2017/18/19 and life that continues, without sense.

What Fiel didn’t suspect was the swan song in 2019, the last cup won.

Not that going five years without celebrating titles is a disgrace for those who spent almost 23.

The problem is how Corinthians arrived at the current fast, because it’s one thing to fast, it’s another to go hungry without the prospect of eating a plate of food in the future.

The question asked here yesterday had the answer that the Corinthians feared, although it was inevitable: the team sank in the waters of Paulistinha with one round to spare.

Corinthians has been proof that the bad can get bad and the bad can become catastrophic, without mercy or pity and, like the Titanic, the colossus sinks.

It is redundant to repeat everything that is already known about the last presidents in Parque São Jorge.

What can I say more about top hats like manipulative megalomaniac Andrés Sanchez, who promised to make Corinthians one of the three biggest clubs in the world in five years?

Or from the current mythomaniac Augusto Melo, to Roberto Andrade, who thought it was normal not to pay for the supermarket, and to the infamous Duílio Monteiro Alves, the greatest predator in the centuries-old black and white history, worthy only of being expelled from the club, with dishonor?

Take the last embarrassment, with Matías Rojas, without going into the merits of the midfielder’s technical ability — especially since it is impossible to say to what extent his performance was directly proportional to the lack of payment.

The previous management hired him, didn’t pay, the current one called him for an agreement, the Paraguayan agreed, and the club failed to comply.

What would you do?

Well, he did. He returned home.

It has already been seen exhaustively that winning championships is far from necessarily being a sign of good management. Often it just means a mere financial doping device, irresponsible spending.

Fiel needs to know who to charge and it will never be Rojas or Mano Menezes, much less António Oliveira.

And stop behaving like hyenas.
