The CBF board does not intend to allow the vote on a club proposal to reduce the number of relegated Brazilians from Série A. A group of teams intended to reduce the number of teams that would fall to Série B, from four to three. The idea was to vote in the Technical Council of the First Division, which takes place this Tuesday afternoon (14), in the confederation.

The understanding of the CBF, however, is that the measure would affect all series of the Brazilian. So it couldn’t be done overnight. The allegation is that there would be an effect on the regulations of the teams in Series A, B, C and D. And the regulations of the Third and Fourth Divisions do not have two years as provided for in the Fan Statute.

The Serie B clubs also expressed their opposition to the proposal through a note:

“The 20 clubs participating in the 2023 Série B decided, unanimously, in a meeting held on Monday, the 13th, to publicly position themselves against the change in the number of accessions and relegations in the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A, in view of several media reports. sport indicating that some clubs intend to propose the modification of the current number of 4 (four) clubs to 3 (three) clubs. The position was sent to the President of the CBF, Mr. Ednaldo Rodrigues, this morning (14).
