No violence. But with love. I’m gay and I don’t want to hide anymore.” said the Czech-born athlete.

Jankto started his career as a player for Udinese, in Italy, and had spells for two more Italian clubs, Ascoli and Sampdoria, in addition to Getafe, in Spain. Currently, the Czech is loaned to Sparta Praha, who made a point of declaring support for the midfielder shortly after the publication entered social networks.

“Jakub Jankto has been open about his sexual orientation with club management, coach and teammates for some time now. Everything else concerns his personal life. No more comments. No more questions. You have our support. Live your life, Jacob. Nothing else matters”,

Ex-wife talks about case

Markéta Ottomanská, ex-wife of Jakub Jankto, commented on the case in an interview with the Czech portal “Idnes”. She supported the athlete and said she was proud of the attitude.

“I am very proud that he was able to muster the strength to go public. He is the first active soccer player to announce it. The only ones who admitted it are pensioners, everyone else keeps it a secret. They are afraid of what people are going to say,” she said.

Ottomanská also revealed that he was afraid of the public reaction after the revelation and said that Jankto receives messages with threats.

“I was afraid that people would not accept him as he is. She was stressed for him. There are still many people who send him private messages threatening him. It’s terrible that this still happens today. Strangers who take an interest in the lives of others,” she said.

Markéta Ottomanská and Jakub Jankto separated in June 2021. During their marriage, the couple had a son, who is now three years old. In the interview, the woman said that she has a friendly relationship with her ex-husband today and the fights at the time of the divorce are behind her.
