46th Interdistrict Football Tournament arrives in the district of Santa Luzia – News of Brazil

The Municipal Department of Sports and Leisure (Semel) held another stage of the 46th Interdistrict Football Tournament this weekend. This time the qualifying selection for the championship took place in the district of Santa Luzia do Pacuí, rural area of Macapá.
A total of 22 teams, 10 women’s teams and 12 men’s teams, entered the field in search of a place in the championship final, scheduled for March 22nd to 24th in Macapá.
The women’s team Santa Luzia do Pacuí and Lago do Papagaio and the men’s team Vila do Augostinho and São Tomé won their place in the final phase of the tournament. The next qualifying stage will take place in the district of Tracajatuba on the 16th, 17th and 18th of February.
In addition to encouraging sports, the championships boost the local economy during game days and promote the appreciation of the rural area of Macapá.
The 46th Interdistrict Football Tournament is the biggest sporting event in Macapá, with around 170 teams from the 10 districts participating in the competitions.
Semel’s secretary, Bruno Igreja, highlights that the event, in addition to promoting involvement between people, will be an important tool to reveal great talents in Macapa sport. “The tournament is a milestone in the lives of athletes. It is one of the ways to encourage new sporting careers, in addition to promoting local tourism”commented Bruno.

It is a football tournament held with the support of the Municipal Secretariat for Mobilization and Popular Participation (Semmopp) and resources from former deputy Leda Sadala. The qualifiers are contested by teams from the capital’s districts, in men’s and women’s modalities.
In this edition, teams from the districts of Carapanatuba, Fazendinha, Coração, Pedreira, Bailique, Tracajatuba, Santa Luzia, São Joaquim, Maruanum and Matapi participate. At the end of the event, the champions will receive prizes consisting of medals and a sum of money. Those classified in each selection will also be awarded prizes.
