Wilson Fittipaldi Junior, brother of two-time F1 world champion Emerson, has been admitted to the ICU at Hospital Prevent Sênio, in Itaim Bibi, in São Paulo, since the 25th, after suffering a cardiac arrest.

The former pilot was also celebrating his 80th birthday with family when he fell ill and was taken to the medical unit.

The information was initially released by the Grande Prêmio website and confirmed by Sheet with a person close to the Fittipaldi family. The report also contacted the hospital, but was informed that Prevent Sênior does not publish medical reports on its patients without the consent of family members.

Wilson reportedly choked on a piece of food and was left without oxygen for a long time. After being resuscitated, he was taken to the hospital, where he remains sedated and intubated, but stable.

Doctors have already tried to remove his sedation, but it was not possible to conclude due to constant spasms. He will also undergo a CT scan to find out if there was brain damage.

Wilsinho, as the son of Wilson Fittipaldi, famous motorsport announcer, became known, arrived in F1 in the 70s, when he competed in the 1972 and 1973 seasons for Brabham.

In 1975, alongside Emerson, he led one of the most ambitious projects in Brazilian motorsport, when he founded a national F1 team, Copersucar, which was on the category’s grid in 1975 and 1982.
