Manaus (AM) – The Literatus Teaching Center has just opened registration for the ninth edition of the Water Race. The event will take place on March 24th, at 5:55 am, and aims to bring together around two thousand amateur and professional athletes. Those interested in participating have between January 5th and March 18th to register on the website www.ticketsports.com.br/, for a cost of R$ 110.

The theme of the edition is “Conscious Use, it has to be in the Mind”. The president of the Literatus Group, Elaine Saldanha, states that the intention is to draw the attention of the local population to the importance of preserving water resources, especially at this time when the Rio Negro is rising again, after a historic drought that impacted the economy, the ecosystem and the lives of Amazonians.

“Water is a limited resource with increasing demand, so it is essential to be aware that climate change can affect the availability of this resource that is so important for food security, population health, animal life, and economic and economic development. of our State”,

highlighted Elaine.

Therefore, traditionally, the Water Race is held in March, the month in which World Water Day is celebrated (March 22). The event is also a way to encourage the practice of sports for a healthier life, in addition to celebrating the Literatus Teaching Center’s 33 years of operation.

The 2024 Water Race will be held over distances of 5km and 10km. The rules of the competition are the same rules that govern the General Regulations for Street Events of the Brazilian Athletics Confederation – CBAt. Just like in the last edition, the dispute will take place on Avenida Governador José Lindoso (Avenida das Torres).

Athletes will be divided into male and female categories: general, over 60 years old, wheelchair users and visually impaired. Each participant will be entitled to a race kit, consisting of a bag, official t-shirt, a cup with a personalized ribbon with the race brand, bib number, as well as gifts and materials from sponsors and supporters of the event.

A mega structure will be set up, with an ambulance service for emergency care, luggage storage, chemical bathrooms and hydration stations with mineral water at the start and finish, and every 2km of the race, all to offer greater comfort and safety to participants. .

The collection of the athletes’ kits is scheduled for March 22nd, from 2pm to 8pm, and the 23rd, from 10am to 2pm, at the Literatus unit located on Avenida Paraíba, 965, in the Adrianópolis neighborhood, in front of the Henoch Justice Forum Kings. If there is a change in the delivery location for the kits, participants will be informed in advance by the race organization.

The kits will only be collected by the athlete upon presentation of an official identification document with photo, and proof of registration sent by the Ticket Sports platform to the athlete’s email. These receipts will be retained upon delivery of the kit.

The participant will collect the competition chip on the day and location of the race, starting at 5 am, using only their bib number and chip ticket. The use of the chip is mandatory.

First, second and third place in each category will be awarded trophies. And, all runners who complete the race will receive a participation medal. The result of the 2024 Water Race will be published on the website www.endurencemanaus.com.br.
