SBT and narrator Téo José decided to terminate the contract after almost four years at Silvio Santos’ station. The agreement between the parties ended in May, but it was decided to bring forward the end of this contract.

To the report, Téo José confirmed his departure in a quick interview. “My contract expired in three months, and in a very mature, very correct conversation, we decided to end this story,” he said.

The last game broadcast by Téo was the match between Vasco and Volta Redonda, for the Campeonato Carioca, on Saturday (24). “I even talked about staying until the end of Carioca, but we thought it would be better to end it right now,” he says.

For the Rio State games, SBT must count on Luiz Alano from now on. Téo José also had a podcast, Pod Pai Pod Filho, produced by SBT. “I’m still going to talk to my partner, I don’t know how this will go,” he says.

Téo José had been at SBT since August 2020, when he was the first name hired by Silvio Santos’ broadcaster for the sports resumption of TV, with the purchase of the rights to Libertadores da América.

Today, SBT has the Copa Sudamericana and the UEFA Champions League. “I delivered the biggest audiences for SBT football in this second stint. When I introduced Arena, it had its best audiences. SBT Sports also had its best numbers with me. Many people who are there today, I helped and recommended. I delivered a lot and I left happy,” he adds.

In recent months, Téo José lost space at SBT due to the hiring of Cléber Machado, who became a starter in matches and at Arena SBT. His departure is not surprising, due to internal issues.

Téo says he still doesn’t have a defined future. “There’s nothing about the future, about what I can do. Nothing at all,” he comments.

In a statement, SBT thanked Téo José, who ended his second stint at the broadcaster. Previously, between 1995 and 2000, he was the narrator of Formula Indy. “At that time, we changed the way we broadcast motorsport. I know I’m part of SBT’s history”, adds Téo.

“SBT and Téo José announce that, consensually, they reached an agreement to end a partnership full of remarkable moments, achievements and mutual admiration to pursue new professional projects. SBT is grateful for all the dedication, professionalism and commitment of Téo José during these years, being part of the team that consolidated the station’s success”, says the SBT note.
