Roma announced this Tuesday morning (16) the dismissal of José Mourinho. The Portuguese coach, who has been at the club in the Italian capital since 2021, could not resist the irregular campaign in the Italian Championship, in which he only occupies ninth place.
“We thank José on behalf of all of us at AS Roma for the passion and commitment he has shown since his arrival at the Giallorossi. Mourinho arrived at Roma in July 2021 and led the team for 138 matches, recording 68 wins, 30 draws and 40 defeats. His biggest achievement was the title of the Conference League, the third main European competition, in the 2021/2022 season.

Also this Tuesday, Roma announced the hiring of Daniele De Rossi, the club’s idol, to replace the Portuguese coach. De Rossi will remain in charge until June this year.
Troubled moment in the season
In the current season, however, Roma were unable to repeat the good performance of the last two years, and the coach’s situation began to become unsustainable after their elimination in the Italian Cup against rivals Lazio on January 7th.
The official departure of the Portuguese comes after another hard blow for Roma: a 3-1 defeat to Milan, last Sunday (14), in the Italian Championship.
