Rayssa Leal qualified for the women’s final of the SLS (Street League Skateboard) Super Crown which takes place this Sunday (3), at Ginásio do Ibirapuera, in the capital of São Paulo.

At 15 years old, the Maranhão native from Imperatriz is one of the favorites for this year. She is looking for her second world championship, after winning the SLS Super Crown 2022 World Championship, in Rio de Janeiro.

This Saturday (2), 12 skaters competed for six places in the women’s final. In the first round, Australian Chloe Covell, one of the favorites for the title, obtained 28.8 points, American Paige Heyn, 25.9, and Japanese Aoi Uemura, 24.

In the second round, Rayssa Leal, showing calm, dominated first place with 30.5 points, followed by Japanese Momiji Nishiya (27.3) and Yumeka Oda (23), who also qualified for the final.

The other three Brazilians who were in the competition, Pâmela Rosa, who was champion in the Rio stage in 2019; Isabelly Ávila, who won a place in the SLS Select Series Saquarema 2023, and Marina Gabriela, who replaced the Japanese Funa Nakayama, who is recovering from an injury, did not reach the score and were left out of the final.

“I was the only Brazilian to qualify. I was sad for the girls, but happy to be in the final. I did a good semi-final, I was scared of doing some tricks, but I was really scared. It’s all learning,” said Rayssa in an interview with SportTV .

Men’s semi-final

Also competing in the men’s semi-final this Saturday (2), starting at 2:30 pm, are current champion Gustavo Ribeiro (Portugal), the biggest winner in SLS history Nyjah Huston (USA), and Brazilians Felipe Gustavo (winner of the Sydney stage) , Filipe Mota, Carlos Ribeiro, Luan Oliveira, Lucas Rabelo, Giovanni Vianna and Gabryel Aguilar, who won the place in the SLS Select Series Saquarema 2023. Kelvin Hoefler, Olympic medalist, is injured and does not compete.
