Brazilian joins Alice Helen, who won her place last year

Rayan Dutra, 21, from Minas Gerais, secured a place at the Paris Olympic Games in trampoline gymnastics. The athlete finished 16th in the World Cup stage of the sport held in Cottbus, Germany and, with that, secured a place among the nine gymnasts classified via the Olympic race.

In Cottbus, Dutra was keeping an eye on the performance of Colombian Ángel Hernández and Kazakh Danil Mussabayev. The Brazilian reached the semi-final of the stage, where he came in 16th place with 29,380 points. He failed to advance to the final, but the result was enough to stay ahead of his opponents. Hernández finished 18th and Mussabayev did not reach the semi.

As the stage in Germany was the last to award points, Rayan Dutra secured his place by placing 13th in the race. Due to the limit of two qualified athletes per country, he met the criteria to win one of the nine spots.

Rayan joins Alice Helen Gomes, who also secured a place in the Olympics due to her performance at the World Cup in Birmingham, England, last year.
