The President of France, Emmanuel Macron, will inaugurate the Olympic Village for the Paris 2024 Games next Thursday (29), in the northern region of the city, the French government announced this Tuesday (27).
Macron will be present at the “handover of the keys” by the company Solideo to the Organizing Committee. The formal opening of the site will be in July, just before the Olympic and Paralympic Games, which end in September.
The Olympic Village, located on the banks of the River Seine between Saint-Denis, Saint-Ouen and L’Île-Saint-Denis, will have 2,800 homes and almost 14,250 beds. Its construction began in October 2021.
The French Presidency stated that it had fulfilled the planned budget with an additional cost of less than 3%, without taking inflation into account. In total, around 2 billion euros (R$ 12 million at current prices) were spent on the works.
It will be an “open-air manifesto for the low-carbon city of tomorrow,” said an aide to the president.
