Former player and idol Corinthians, Grandchild announced that he will be a candidate for president of the São Paulo club in 2026 after Augusto Melo’s victory, in an election held this Saturday (25), at Parque São Jorge, Timão’s headquarters. The Band presenter also confirmed his vote for the opposition’s name.
“I voted for Augusto Melo and my ticket. Especially because if she wins this election, in 2026 I will be a candidate for the Presidency of Corinthians, with Hero (Vicente) as my vice”, declared Neto about the agreement.
“I may not be, for many people, the one who will change this story. I am sure that, following Augusto Melo, with whom I have this partnership, I will be the next (president). I support and voted for Augusto Melo. Renewal and Transparency does not exist, this was all a lie. Corinthians is more important than all of them”, he added.
Also speaking was Andrés Sanchez, leader of the Renovation and Transparency group, who has been in charge of the club since 2007. The former Corinthians president reiterated his support for the current candidate André Luiz de Oliveira, André Negão. “In football, you lose and win. You can’t win every year. In the last 15 years, who has won the most titles in Brazil? There are mistakes and successes”, said Cacá Catalão, from Canal do Povo Esecido, on YouTube.
Corinthians is coming off a 5-1 defeat to Bahia, last Friday, in the 35th round of the Brasileirão. The result equaled the worst defeat in history at the Neo Química Arena, generating boos and protests in the stands: “Everyone out: missing board and lazy squad”, protested those organized during the match.
