Manga postpones return to Coritiba after request for review at STJD

The return of Alef Manga football is postponed. The 29-year-old player, who would return to training at Coritiba this Saturday (27), at CT da Graciosa, the case will be reviewed by Superior Court of Sports Justice (STJD) next Thursday (1), in an administrative session of the Plenum.

The main reason for the reanalysis involves the end date of his punishment for the match manipulation case.

Last year, the athlete was sentenced by the STJD to 360 days away from the field, but at the beginning of January the Court itself accepted the request to convert 50% of the sentence into a fine of R$60,000 and payment of basic food baskets – the prerogative is foreseen in the Brazilian Code of Sports Justice (CBJD).

According to the CBF, Manga would be able to return to work on January 27th. However, the striker continued to play outside of Brazil, for Pafos, in Cyprus, until his international cap. This difference was not considered within the deadline established by the entity and now the STJD will discuss the issue and define the real deadline for the number 11’s return.

It is worth remembering that, in addition to doing a pre-season to regain physical condition before re-debuting, Alef Manga still has seven games of punishment to serve at Paranaense. He was suspended for eight games after Atletiba’s widespread confusion at the 2023 State Championship, at Arena da Baixada, and only served the automatic suspension.
