Gabi Mazetto is the champion of STU Porto Alegre

The public packed the Orla do Guaíba track this Sunday morning (19) to follow the STU final, the national skateboarding championship. The women’s street category, which brought together big names in national sport, such as Rayssa Leal and Pâmela Rosa, had Gabi Mazetto as the great champion of the stage, surpassing the fairy, who took second place.

The strong heat didn’t scare the public, which vibrated with each maneuver of the skate girls. Gabi celebrated the result a lot and thanked the audience for their energy. “It’s really cool to be skating here with my friends. It was another day of a lot of skating, a lot of learning and a lot of focus. Skateboarding is friendship, joy and, thank God, I managed to skate well”, said the champion of the stage of Porto Alegre.

Two-time world champion Pâmela Rosa took fifth place. With pain in the knee, the athlete said that the injury hindered her performance this Sunday. “My knee wasn’t 100%, it scared me, but now it’s time to go home to recover”, pointed out the athlete, who celebrated the receptiveness of the gauchos. “The guys with a very good energy, gratitude for everyone’s affection. I’m very happy to be here”, celebrated Pâmela.

At just 13 years old, Maria Lúcia Rocha, from Canoas, was one of the gaúchas, alongside Ariadne Souza, to pass through the track in this Sunday’s final. Maria celebrated her first championship final. “It was very good. It’s my second time running here and the first final. I hope a lot of good things for the future, my dream is to go to the Olympics”, projected the young woman, happy to share the track with big names in world skateboarding. “It’s very good, that’s how you learn”, said Maria Lúcia.

And it wasn’t just on the runway that the girls were present. Friends Maria Eduarda, 10, and Rafaella, 9, arrived early in the hope of getting Rayssa’s autograph on their skateboards. “I asked for a skateboard after meeting Rayssa”, says Maria Eduarda. The friends weren’t the only ones. The stands were filled with children of all ages. Little Lavínia, 5 years old, was accompanied by her mother, Fernanda, and her brother Arthur to enjoy the morning of skateboarding. Dressed as a fairy, she said she is a big fan of Rayssa.

Former Inter player Rafael Sobis attended the event. Despite not practicing, the athlete says he likes the sport. “The event is very cool, important for the city. It’s a very hot Sunday and I think the least we could do is be here watching,” says Sobis, adding that he follows the trajectory of Luan de Oliveira from Rio Grande do Sul and Pamela from São Paulo more closely. The final stages of the STU continue throughout the afternoon, with the final of the Park, in the men’s and women’s categories, the men’s street final and the paraskate.
