Sold to Real Madrid by Palmeiras in 2022 for approximately R$400 million, striker Endrick, just 17 years old, is currently experiencing the best moment of his career. He was called up to the main Brazilian team and could make his debut this Thursday, against Colombia, in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. And, with the rise on the pitch, the spotlight also grows. However, he guarantees that he does not let early success get in the way of his career.

“To be honest, I hate going out. I hate going to parties, clubs. I like restaurants more, eating, you know? I like doing things with my family more,” said Endrick in an interview with the TNT Sports channel. He also says that he doesn’t let himself be affected by the success that comes with his good form on the field.

For Endrick, what matters today is just playing good football. “I don’t like knowing how much I’m going to earn, how much I’m going to receive, contracts, how many years. I just want to play football,” he said. Even though he was traded by Palmeiras at the end of last year for a hefty sum, the goalscorer won’t be joining Real Madrid any time soon. The move to Spain will only be effective when he turns 18, which happens in July 2024. Until then, he will continue to be Abel Ferreira’s main player on the way to the Brasileirão title.

Despite his young age, the number 9 also appeared to be quite mature about the decisions he has to make in his brief career as a sportsman. “When a kid is very young, it goes to his head. And, thank God, I was able to come to the pros at a very young age and I was able to see a lot of things. I was able to see things that happened to players that I won’t repeat,” he explained. . “I absorbed everything good I had to not do anything bad and that’s what I’m doing.”

“I keep to myself, I stay calm, I don’t do anything. I don’t like to get involved in controversy, I don’t like to do anything that will tarnish my image”, said Endrick, aware of his role as a football player. “I also thank God for giving me this mentality, because, like it or not, if I didn’t have a mentality like that, I would have already lost my way. I’m not going to lie.”

“I was sold to Real Madrid. I’m playing for the biggest club in Brazil, in South America. It’s all for a kid to get lost. And I’m on my own. I could have already kicked the bucket with people who talk to me. And I’m in mine. I just thank God for the time I have here”, concluded the young star.
