The Public Ministry of Spain filed an appeal against the provisional release — upon payment of bail — of Daniel Alves. The private prosecution will also appeal the decision of the Barcelona Court next Monday (25).

MP prosecutors allege a flight risk. They also reinforce that Daniel Alves was sentenced to four years and six months.

The victim’s accusation argues that Daniel Alves remains in prison until he serves half of his sentence. The former player has been in prison for 14 months.

The indictment also highlighted a “high risk of flight” and that Brazil does not extradite native Brazilians. The high economic capacity of Daniel Alves and its surroundings was also highlighted.

Daniel Alves needs to pay a bail of €1 million (R$5.4 million) to be released on provisional release. The amount has not been paid to date and the Brazilian is imprisoned in Barcelona.

If he pays bail, Daniel Alves will not be able to approach the victim and will have his passports withheld. He is also banned from leaving Spain.

Daniel Alves was sentenced to four years and six months in prison for rape, but an appeal is possible — both the defense and the prosecution are preparing the document contesting the sentence to present to the court.
