Still with a game to complete its participation in the Libertadores group stage, Corinthians has no more chances to advance to the round of 16. This Wednesday (7), the alvinegro team was defeated by Independiente Del Valle, in Ecuador, by 3 to 0, and parked in the third position of its key.

In five matches in the championship, the club from Parque São Jorge obtained only four points, with three defeats, a draw and a victory.

With the performance, the Corinthian formation, under the command of Vanderlei Luxemburgo, repeats the 1977 campaign, when it debuted in the tournament and also fell in the group stage.

In the last round, Corinthians will still have the chance to at least win a place in the South American, if they confirm the third position in the key. For that, they will have a direct duel with Liverpool, from Uruguay, fourth place, also with four points, and the only opponent that the Corinthians defeated in this edition, right in the debut.

For Group E, Independiente Del Valle and Argentinos Juniors advanced to the round of 16, teams that left the São Paulo team in a delicate situation in the competition when they won the clashes in Itaquera.
