The CBF (Brazilian Football Confederation) and São Paulo Futebol Clube reached an impasse regarding the amounts that the entity must disburse to the club after inviting coach Dorival Júnior to be the new coach of the Brazilian team.

ACCOUNT TIME

The announcement that he would leave the tricolor to take over the national team was made this month. As his agreement with São Paulo was still in force, Dorival should, as agreed, pay the fines provided for in his contract.

ACCOUNT 2

The CBF, however, made a commitment to pay off the debt — and opened negotiations with the club.

ACCOUNT 3

São Paulo believes that the CBF should deposit R$8.5 million in the club’s coffers: R$4.5 million in fines, R$3 million in a type of gloves, or compensation, and another R$1 million that Tricolor had to pay Juventude by inviting its coach, Thiago Carpini, to take command of the team.

ACCOUNT 4

The CBF, according to people familiar with the negotiations, has so far agreed to pay R$5.5 million, corresponding to the fine and the disbursement from São Paulo.

GOLD THREAD

In charge of São Paulo between April 2023 and the beginning of January, Dorival Júnior won the unprecedented Copa do Brasil title for the club.
