Bragantino hosts Botafogo, starting at 8:30 pm (Manaus time) this Wednesday (13) at the Nabi Abi Chedid stadium, in Bragança Paulista, in a match that will define who will be the last Brazilian representative in the 2024 edition of the Copa Libertadores da América . Glorioso arrives at the game with an advantage, after defeating Massa Bruta 2-1 last week in a match played at the Nilton Santos stadium, in Rio de Janeiro. The team that advances in this dispute will join Fluminense, Palmeiras, São Paulo, Grêmio, Atlético-MG and Flamengo to play in the group stage of the most important club tournament in South America.

General Severiano’s team arrives at the clash betting heavily on the good form of striker Júnior Santos, who, with the two goals scored in the first leg of the 3rd preliminary phase of the Libertadores, became the highest scorer in the history of the Libertadores with a total of seven tries. But, facing a strong and organized opponent like Massa Bruta, assistant coach Fábio Matias doesn’t expect it to be easy: “We’re going to have another difficult game. Bragantino is a pressing team. And we already have some pressuring behaviors, we are able to sustain this for longer.”

To seek classification for the Libertadores group stage, a possible Botafogo lineup is: Gatito Fernández; Damián Suárez, Lucas Halter, Barboza and Marçal; Gregore and Danilo Barbosa; Júnior Santos, Eduardo and Savarino; Tiquinho Soares.

If Botafogo has a small advantage on the scoreboard, Bragantino maintains confidence in obtaining the place, as coach Pedro Caixinha made clear in a press conference: “I say that the tie is not closed. It is by no means closed. We will do everything. We haven’t won yet [o Botafogo] in 2023, and now we will win, pass and be in the group stage [da Libertadores]”.

But, to achieve this goal, Massa Bruta will have to break an uncomfortable fast against Botafogo. In the last five matches between the teams, Glorioso won four and a draw was recorded. Bragantino’s last triumph over General Severiano’s team was on November 16, 2020 in the Brazilian Championship.
