Marcus Coelho He is the president of the Brazilian title for Athletico. This biographical data places him as one of the most important characters in our history, but does not summarize his red-and-black trajectory.
Born in Tubarão (SC), in 1957, he arrived in Curitiba in the mid-1960s. His family went to live near Baixada and the boy’s passion was instant for the team that included the duo Pedrinho and Renatinho.
In the 1970s, he trained as a lawyer and was invited to join the club’s Deliberative Council. Since then, he has participated in Atlético’s political life on many fronts.
In 1997, when Furacão was suspended by the CBF, he worked directly in defense of CAP. In the club’s legal department, he was one of those responsible for changing the club’s Statute, from which the administration system was implemented through a Management Committee with short presidential terms.
In this rotation, he assumed the presidency throughout the year of grace 2001. But before the achievements, he helped to peel the cucumber that was the “CPI do Futebol”, in which Athletico was one of the most investigated and audited clubs, but managed to prove that everything was 100% correct and transparent.
He was an active president in the day-to-day running of football and many important decisions, such as the choice of Geninho as coach and player signings, were made by him. His name, for example, is on the contract that made Alex Mineiro an employee of the club.
He left the presidency shortly after winning the title, but he did not stop following the team, always at the disposal of Rubro-Negro with his experience as a champion president.
