The image of an athlete celebrating winning a medal and proudly celebrating his homosexuality will be possible especially at the center for LGBTQIA+ athletes that will be installed in the center of Paris during the 2024 Olympic Games. The Olympics begin on July 26th and end on the 11th of August.

Paris City Hall, which is involved in the project together with the Organization Committee and the French government, gave the go-ahead on Friday (15) in its municipal council for a subsidy of around 45 thousand euros (the equivalent of around R$ 242 thousand), allocated to the Fier Play association, responsible for installing and animating the “pride house”.

The center’s total budget will be 255 thousand euros (around R$1.374 million), and the center should also be used during the Paralympic Games, which will begin on August 28, said the municipal assistant for Sports and Olympic Games, Pierre Rabadan.

The center will be located in a central location in Paris, which has not yet been revealed, Rabadan told AFP. There, the “self-proclaimed athletes” and their “allies” will be received, especially for “the celebration of the medals”, stated the city council in its deliberation project.

Furthermore, the “pride house” will offer “moments of exchange on LGBTQIA+ topics and sport”.
