Between the 13th and 17th of March, Caucaia-CE was the stage for the Brazilian Karate Championship, where more than 700 athletes from all over Brazil were competing in the Under-8, Under-10, Under-12, Under-14, Cadet categories. , Junior, Under-21 and Senior. Amapá was not left out and was still on the podium.
The athlete from Amapá Thiago Souza, from Karate Top Team, won a bronze medal in the Junior -55kg category. In addition to the medal, the karateka also qualified for the next stage of the competition. Thiago Souza has a disability in his arms and yet he fought with athletes who do not have a disability in their upper limbs.
“I would first like to thank God, my family for their support and support, the Karate Top Team academy, my coach for providing me with the technical training to compete at this level. I thank everyone who supported me”wrote Thiago on his social networks.
Another highlight in the competition was the athlete Gabriel Souza, also from Karate Top Team, who had seven fights, and with his performance, he will be a reserve in the Brazilian under-14 Karate Team. On his social networks, the athlete states that the result was not what he expected, but he thanked everyone who supported him.
“We continue with our heads held high, firm and strong! Thank you to everyone who cheered for me! God is in control”he wrote Gabriel.
