Aniel Cardoso from Amapá won the bronze medal at the 2023 Sports Jiu-Jitsu World Championship, which took place between November 23rd and 26th, in São Paulo. The medal came in the featherweight category up to 70 kg. The athlete, who trains at master Ronildo Nobre’s academy, in Santana, is also a jungle survival instructor and military police officer.

To get to São Paulo, Aniel says it was a great difficulty due to the lack of sponsorship to buy the tickets, but everything worked out. “I traveled for 24 hours by ship to Belém, then took a bus to São Paulo, all with the help of people. It was difficult to get here, but I got third place and that’s really good for me.”he said.

This is Aniel’s seventh medal in events in the sport. He already has two gold medals, four silver medals and one bronze.

The competition is promoted by the Brazilian Confederation of Sports Jiu-Jitsu (CBJJE), in partnership with the International Federation of Brazilian Sports Jiu-Jitsu (IFSBJJ). The event closes the entity’s season of major tournaments, an event of a high technical level, which has a great structure that provided appreciation and visibility to the athletes who competed in it.
