Al Ittihad announced, this Tuesday (6), the signing of French striker Karim Benzema for three seasons. The player, who left Real Madrid for Arab football, expressed his satisfaction with the transfer.

“I’m excited to experience a new football league in a different country. Al Ittihad have an incredible history, passionate fans and big ambitions to be a force in Asia. It’s a challenge for me, a new life, and I can’t wait to join start training,” said the 35-year-old striker.

The local press stated that the deal was sealed last Sunday, when the club’s president, Anmar al Haeli, headed the negotiations that defined the transfer of the athlete.

“It’s a good league and it’s starting to go up a level. Cristiano Ronaldo is already here. I came to win, like I did in Europe”, stated the Frenchman. According to the European press, Benzema should receive around 100 million euros (something around R$ 540 million) per year.
