Yuri Alberto reissues double in the national team after suffering with Rodrygo’s shadow

Yuri Alberto will re-edit in the Brazilian selection the duo with Rodrygoa partnership that worked very well at the base, but did not work in Santos’ professional squad.

Yuri Alberto, from Corinthians, was chosen by coach Ramon Menezes to replace the injured Richarlison in Brazil’s friendly against Morocco, Saturday (25th), in Tangier. The center forward will find his base partner in the national team: Rodrygo, from Real Madrid.

Yuri was a top scorer at Santos, but struggled to establish himself in the professional squad before signing a pre-contract with Inter.

Rodrygo went up with Yuri Alberto at the end of 2017, quickly stood out and hit with Real Madrid (Spain), while his friend embittered the bench most of the time.

Rodrygo was something of a shadow for Yuri, who was compared to the current Real Madrid striker on a daily basis. Many inside and outside Santos understood that he wouldn’t work out and even joked that he only worked out at the base because of Rodrygo’s assists.

BACK ON TOP

Yuri Alberto left Santos in 2020 because he understood that the club did not present a good project for his career.

Entrepreneurs tried to place the striker in Europe, but the destination was Internacional, a club where Menino da Vila shone.

Yuri returned to earning everything he earned at the base and was traded to Zenit (RUS) for BRL 150 million in early 2022.

The conflicts between Russia and Ukraine led to Yuri Alberto being loaned and the choice was made by Corinthians, who later transferred Robert Renan and Du Queiroz to the Russians.

At the age of 22, Yuri gets his first chance in the main Brazilian national team, confirms all his base projection and finds Rodrygo, now alongside his shadow at Peixe.
