Young striker Zinho is promoted to the main group of Grêmio

One of the main highlights in the poor performance of the Grêmio team against Ypiranga, in Erechim, last weekend, the young striker Zinho was called to the main group by coach Renato Portaluppi. Until then, the 19-year-old player was part of the under-20 squad. This season, he played in the draw against São Luiz, in Ijuí, and again in the goalless draw against Canarinho, for the last round of the group stage of the Campeonato Gaúcho.
Zinho is a child of the Gremista base and when necessary he will return to the base team in some competitions. With a bond until the end of 2024, the tendency is for the player to be sought after to have his contract extended with the club. Born in Lajeado, Zinho is an original left-winger and will compete with Ferreirinha for a place in Portaluppi’s team. The other athletes who traveled to Erechim and trained with the main group have already returned to the under-20 team, which is disputing the Brazilian Championship in the category.
On the other hand, Grêmio, which needs to sell players to move the box, stopped negotiations with Spanish clubs interested in its players due to a threat from the Spanish tax authorities. The body charges around BRL 35.5 million for the sale of Arthur to Barcelona in 2018. The club understands that there is no debt and the situation is in court. The fear is that an eventual sale will have values blocked.
The amount charged by the Spanish tax authorities has been under debate since mid-2021. The Gremista leadership even made the payment forecast in its budget for that year, but the decision did not happen. The club disagrees with the charge, as it understands that it bears taxes on any amount in Brazil, not in Spain. The tax authorities are based on Spanish laws to reinforce their thesis of irregularities in the sale of Arthur. The pending amount refers to a possible fine. There is an expectation of definition throughout this year.
Ferreira was the first in the Spanish sights. Celta de Vigo even made an offer of 7 million euros (R$ 39 million) for the striker earlier this year, but the proposal was rejected. Bitello is the second in the Spanish sights. In this case, there was no official offer, but any possible deal is ruled out for fear of withheld funds.
Meanwhile, Portaluppi follows the team’s preparation for the duel with Ferroviário, this Thursday, at 8 pm, at the Arena, for the second phase of the Copa do Brasil. With the team practically defined, the only doubt in the lineup is on the right side. Since João Pedro was expelled in Gauchão, he can start this Thursday, while Fábio will face Ypiranga, Saturday, for the first leg of the semifinals of Gauchão.
