The UN Global Compact in Brazil announced on 11/29, during the 12th Global Human Rights Forum, in Geneva, the launch of the Educa2030 Movement, the 10th of the Ambition 2030 strategy, created to accelerate the UN 2030 Agenda, making that organizations make public commitments to bold and measurable goals. The Movement aims to engage companies to commit to ambitious goals for the advancement of education in Brazil, with a focus on increasing the population’s education level, the productive inclusion of young people and the increase of women in STEM careers (grouping of educational disciplines in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). The Yduqs and Globo groups are ambassadors of the movement, which has as partners Unicef ​​(United Nations Children’s Fund), UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization), the ILO (International Labor Organization) and the Ministry of Labor and Employment.

“We want to multiply, in our country, the transformation that we see daily in our educational institutions, which is education generating the power of self-determination,

inclusion and citizenship”, says Cláudia Romano, vice-president and head of ESG at Yduqs and president of the Yduqs Institute, an organization that will also work to bring new companies to the Educa 2030 agenda.

“Nothing could dialogue as directly with the history and vision of Yduqs as this agenda proposed by the Global Compact in Brazil, with whom we have a partnership of many years and a very strong alignment, given that our ESG strategy and goals are based on the Objectives of Sustainable Development that they disseminate and promote in the country. Let’s work together for a broad, national mobilization to break down the barriers that persist between millions of people and a fairer, more supportive and diverse future for our society”, adds Cláudia.

“Educa2030 came to contribute to promoting the universalization of a diverse education aligned with the 2030 Agenda and Human Rights”, says Carlo Pereira, CEO of the UN Global Compact in Brazil, who adds. “Companies play a fundamental role in our society and have a significant responsibility in promoting education, both when considering the structure of their professionals and businesses and the impact on their surroundings. This is an essential agenda for the country’s industrial development and economic growth.”

The main pillars of this movement are Education (enabling the company’s employees to increase their education, offering easier opportunities to complete high school, for example, especially among underrepresented groups, such as black people, women and PWD, considering operations and the value chain ); Productive Inclusion (promote the productive inclusion of young people aged 14 to 29, focusing on the Learning Law); and Women in STEM (boosting the development of women in STEM careers).

When joining the Educa2030 Movement, companies must choose one or more of the following commitments, to be achieved by 2030:

  1. Option A: Offer all employees of the organization who do not have secondary or technical education the possibility of completing it by 2030 or

Option B: Offer all employees of the organization and third parties who do not have secondary or technical education the possibility of completing it by 2030 or

Option C: Target of 30% of the organization’s employees having completed Higher Education by 2030;

  1. Reach the legal Apprentice quota by 2030, considering the inclusion of diversity, and train all young people in sustainable development;
  2. Offer professional development for women, and all their intersectionalities, in a STEM career, whether in their final or support activities.

Recently, Yduqs also joined the “Race is a priority” and “They lead” movements, both linked to the Ambition 2030 strategy of the UN Global Compact.
