Although the former mayor of Guarulhos Elói Pietá announced his departure from the PT with the argument that the party has less internal democracy than the US Republican Party, his wife, city councilor Janete Pietá remains in the party.
“I left because of the irregular methods that the party used to define its candidate for mayor. She does not have the same reasons and has not yet made her decision”, says Pietá, who is looking for another acronym to run for the position he held between 2001 and 2009.
His wife is expected to seek a new term as councilor in the October election.
