Vini Jr is summoned to testify for racist insults received at Mestalla

The holder of the investigation court 10 of Valencia summoned the Brazilian striker Vinicius Junior of Real Madridto testify on June 27 as a victim of racist insults hurled at him by several Valencia fans at the Mestalla stadium on the 21st, according to EFE news from sources familiar with the judicial calendar.

Upon taking over the case after receiving the report of a possible hate crime in which three fans have already been identified as possible protagonists of these insults, the court holder also agreed to notify the Madrid court to give the possibility for the player to testify through videoconferencing.

Bearing in mind that the Spanish Championship ends next Sunday and the teams will start pre-season in early July, the statement would take place during the Real player’s vacation period.

In addition, the court called the three young people between 18 and 21 years old who were arrested last week as alleged perpetrators of these insults to testify on June 19 as investigated.

In the match between Valencia and Real Madrid, for the 35th round of the Spanish Championship, Vini Jr took advantage of a break in the game to point out a fan in the stands for having made gestures comparing him to a monkey.

The National Police intervened and identified him at that moment and in the following days the review of Valencia’s security cameras allowed the identification of two other fans.

These insults led the Competition Commission to punish Valencia with the closure of the “Mario Kempes” south stand at the Mestalla for five matches, which was later reduced to three after an appeal.
