The Regional English Language Office of the United States Embassy in Brazil has open registration for the English course aimed at journalists. Free and online, classes are recommended for professionals with intermediate command of the language.

Participants will learn about the history and principles of journalism and how to research, pitch and interview in English. The vocabulary of print media, ways of disseminating news and journalism in new media will also be taught.

With unlimited places, the English Language Regional Office, responsible for the course, offers students four date options throughout 2024 to complete their studies.

Classes for the first group were released at 2pm this Tuesday (2), Brasília time. Those interested in participating in the group can still register, but pay attention to the course closing deadline: all activities must be completed by 1:59 pm on March 18th, with no additional time due to late registration.

The other options for taking the course are: from April 1st to June 17th, from July 1st to September 16th and from October 7th to December 23rd. Entries can be made by the site.

“We believe that equipping journalists with English skills is crucial in today’s globalized media landscape. Fluency in the language allows journalists to access information from diverse sources across borders and communicate effectively with international audiences,” says Luke Ortega, spokesperson for US Embassy and Consulates.
