The TRF-1 (Federal Regional Court of the 1st Region) rejected a public civil action to remove from office the Public Prosecutor Ângelo Goulart Villela, arrested in 2017 accused of passing on information to investigated persons of Operation Greenfield.

Judge João Carlos Mayer understood that there was no evidence or just cause for his removal from office. This was the last lawsuit to which Villela responded. In 2021 and 2022, the court had already ruled in favor of the prosecutor in criminal cases and administrative impropriety.

He still responds, however, to a disciplinary procedure with a request for loss of office in the CNMP (National Council of the Public Ministry). Reported by counselor Otávio Rodrigues, one of the candidates for the six-fold list of the STJ (Superior of Justice), the topic has been on the agenda since October last year.

Villela was arrested on May 18, by order of STF (Federal Supreme Court) Minister Edson Fachin.

He was part of the Operation Greenfield task force, which was investigating an alleged scheme of irregular use of pension fund resources. The suspicion was that one of the companies in the J&F group, which controls JBS, had benefited from the scheme.

In a plea bargain, businessman Joesley Batista said he had heard that Villela would receive an allowance of R$50,000 in exchange for information. He denies the accusations.
