Demand

Eight out of ten Brazilians believe that having technical training helps them get a job

A trend of strong growth in the country, the offer of distance professional courses is expected to continue to expand in Brazil in 2024. According to the National Institute of Educational Studies and Research Anísio Teixeira (Inep), higher education distance learning grew 474% between 2011 and 2021, and surpassed the mark of 3 million students in 2022, the highest number ever recorded.

Distance learning courses have a series of benefits, but two highlights are the flexible schedules and the cheaper cost compared to in-person teaching. The greatest demand for this modality was what prompted the Technical Education Center (Centec) to launch its first complete online training in 2023 and announce the expansion of the EaD catalog for 2024.

“There was a great commitment from our pedagogical coordinators and teachers to implement technical distance learning (for secondary level) in 2023. We implemented a studio to record classes at Centec itself and now we are happy to be able to announce that we have two new courses at the beginning 2024. But the objective is to offer the Distance Learning option for all courses in the Management and Business axis, without compromising face-to-face training”, says the CEO of Centec, Eliana Cássia de Souza.

The two new courses offered are technical in Legal Services and Occupational Safety. Both last up to six months. In addition to the modules common to all courses, such as Portuguese language and basic computing, the student takes specific subjects in each area.

The average salary for legal services assistants in Amazonas, a role that can be performed by technicians, is R$1,788.33, reaching R$3,098.70. The average salary for Occupational Safety technicians is R$3,188.95, which can reach R$5,276.81. The values are from the Salário platform, which is based on the Caged survey (General Register of Employed and Unemployed), by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).

Enlargement

Currently, Centec already offers EaD technical courses in Quality, Administration, Human Resources and Real Estate Transactions – all lasting up to six months. These courses are part of the so-called Management and Business axis, which the school intends to offer 100% remotely, in addition to the existing face-to-face alternative. As a result, distance learning courses in Logistics and Accounting should be offered in the future.

“We follow all trends not only in the educational sector, but also in what the market demands from professionals. Some of these demands are quality training in less time, so this is what drives us to invest more and more in these options”, says the coordinator of Centec’s Management and Business axis and distance learning tutor, Viviane Melo.

Technical graduation

According to the Education and Public Opinion survey, carried out by the FSB Institute in partnership with the National Confederation of Industry (CNI), eight out of ten Brazilians believe that having technical training helps them get a job. Furthermore, technical courses are recommended by 91% of Brazilians. The percentage rises to 97% among those with technical training.

Centec has promotional registrations open until January 31st. The student must bring copies of their ID, CPF, high school graduation certificate and transcript, birth certificate, voter registration card and a 3×4 photo. The institution is located at Avenida Djalma Batista, 646, São Geraldo. For more information, call (92) 99223-1580.
