Tarcísio’s right-hand man appears on PP’s TV show – 10/26/2023 – Panel

Secretary of the Civil House and right-hand man of Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans) in the government of São Paulo Arthur Lima was included by the PP in its television insertions alongside Ciro Nogueira, national president of the party, and Maurício Neves, state president.

Lima is a military man and began taking his first steps into politics in August, when he joined the PP, whose leaders are already discussing political projects for the secretary.

A more immediate possibility would be to try to place him as vice-president on Ricardo Nunes’ (MDB) ticket in the race for Mayor of São Paulo in 2024. Another would be to launch him into the Senate in 2026.

There are also those who argue that the PP fight for Tarcísio’s vice-president in 2026, when he should run for re-election. In this case, the current vice-president, Felício Ramuth, would have to seek another position.

The last alternative would be a way of putting pressure on Gilberto Kassab, Tarcísio’s Government Secretary, who has had disagreements with Lima. Ramuth is a member of the PSD, of which Kassab is president.

Parliamentarians complain that the roles of Lima and Kassab are not well differentiated in management and, therefore, they do not know who to turn to to meet demands and resolve problems.

In the TV piece, PP leaders say that the party is against abortion and the release of drugs, defends lower taxes and supports agribusiness. Lima adds that the Tarcísio government supports this agenda and is privatizing state-owned companies and creating jobs.
