Government approves projects worth R$421 million for industry and attests to the strength of ZFM

Manaus (AM) – Representing governor Wilson Lima, the vice-governor of Amazonas, Tadeu de Souza, presided this Thursday afternoon (26) at the 304th ordinary meeting of the Development Council of the State of Amazonas (Codam). The collegiate evaluated and approved an agenda of 35 projects that total investments estimated at R$421 million, with the forecast of generating 727 new job vacancies in the Manaus Industrial Pole (PIM) within three years.

The meeting took place in the auditorium of the Federation of Industries of Amazonas (Fieam), in the center of Manaus. During the debates, the vice-governor stated that the new approved investments demonstrate the strength of the Manaus Free Trade Zone (ZFM), reiterating the government’s commitment to maintaining the competitive advantages of the model that governs the economic, social and environmental development of the state. .

“This is a demonstration of the creation of an entire strengthened business environment so that, increasingly, within the Manaus Industrial Pole, within Amazonas, we are seen by the national industry as a place of facilitation, investment and legal security ”,

highlighted Tadeu de Souza, making reference to the State’s efforts amid the drought and discussions on tax reform.

The meeting’s agenda was marked by the approval of 35 projects covering the PIM’s electro-electronic, thermoplastic and two-wheel sectors. Of the total, seven were implementation projects, 22 diversification projects and eight updating projects. In addition, Codam members approved another 202 projects that will be relocated within the industry itself.

Balance

Vice-governor Tadeu de Souza took stock of Codam’s work throughout 2023. In five meetings, the collegiate has already approved more than 200 projects, with investments of approximately R$3.6 billion. There have already been more than 6 thousand new jobs projected and another 1.1 thousand relocated at PIM.

“All of this is largely due to the commitment of Governor Wilson Lima, the entire Government structure, mainly Sedecti, Sefaz and the State Attorney General’s Office, to maintain the business environment in Amazonas fluid and maintain the attractiveness of the model Manaus Free Zone regardless of the national situation”,

noted Tadeu de Souza.

The head of the State Secretariat for Economic Development, Science, Technology and Innovation (Sedecti), Serafim Corrêa, who also presides over Codam, endorsed the vice-governor’s statement. For the secretary, the fifth meeting of the year was emblematic as it was held during the most severe drought in the last 121 years.

“At a time like this, you approving 35 projects with an investment of R$420 million is proof that the Manaus Free Trade Zone model is alive, is attractive and that businesspeople continue to trust in the rules of the game. This gives us a lot of strength to continue our work of attracting new investments”,

Featured projects

Among the approved projects, the highlight is the company Bel Micro Industrial Ltda. with the manufacture of color TVs with liquid crystal screens, representing 16.6% of total investments (R$ 70.1 million), providing for the creation of 26 new jobs in its industrial plant.

In the electronics hub, Codam also approved the upgrade project for Foxconn Moebg Indústria de Eletrônicos Ltda., which intends to manufacture digital routers at PIM. The investment is R$45.3 million, with the estimated creation of 277 new jobs for this purpose.

For the thermoplastic sector, among the approved projects is that of the company Nova Rio Amazonas Indústria de Embalagens Ltda. focused on the manufacture of products such as sheet metal, tape and plastic film. The investment is R$65.8 million, which will generate 34 new jobs.

Within the PIM two-wheel segment, Codam approved the project to implement the company Oliver Mobilidade Ltda., which will invest R$3.7 million to manufacture motorcycles and electric scooters, with 12 new job vacancies; and the diversification project of Cicloway Indústria e Comércio de Veículos Elétricos Ltda., with R$3.3 million, which operates with electric motorcycles and mopeds.

In addition to vice-governor Tadeu de Souza and secretary Serafim Corrêa, the head of the State Secretariat for Rural Production (Sepror), Daniel Borges, participated in the meeting; the director-president of the State Development Agency (Afeam), Marcos Vinicius Castro; and the director-president of the Institute for Sustainable Agricultural and Forestry Development of the State of Amazonas (Idam), Vanderlei Alvino.

Also present were the vice-president of Fieam, Nelson Azevedo; the executive deputy superintendent of the Manaus Free Trade Zone (Suframa), Frederico Aguiar; the regional superintendent of Banco da Amazônia (Basa), Esmar Dutra; the Federal Revenue delegate in Manaus, Eduardo Badaró; and the councilor of Manaus, Rodrigo Guedes.

The list includes the president of the Association of Industries and Service Companies of the Industrial Pole (Aficam), Roberto Moreno; the president of the Agriculture Federation (Faea), Muni Lourenço; the president of the Commercial Association (ACA), Jorge Lima; the executive president of the Center for Industries (Cieam), Lúcio Flávio Moraes; and the director of the Commerce Federation (Fecomércio), Enock Luniere.
