FIES

Program finances higher education in private educational institutions

Registration for the Student Financing Fund (Fies) begins this Tuesday (7th) and runs until next Friday (10th). Through the program, the federal government pays the tuition of undergraduate students in private higher education institutions. According to the Ministry of Education (MEC), 67,000 vacancies will be offered in the first semester, out of a total of 112,000 for this year.

To register, interested parties must access the Single Portal for Access to Higher Education, which also gathers information and results from the Unified Selection System (Sisu) and the University for All Program (Prouni). Applicants will have to indicate three options for undergraduate courses.

Criteria

To claim funding, the student must have taken the Enem from 2010 to 2022, with an average grade equal to or greater than 450, and cannot have zeroed the essay. Applicants also need to prove gross monthly family income of up to three minimum wages per person.

Students who have a partial Prouni scholarship can participate in the Fies selection process and finance the portion of the tuition not covered by the scholarship, provided they meet the conditions set out in the public notice of the current selection process.
