Already on Amapá soil, the South African delegation defends debates on topics such as sustainable entrepreneurship during the largest international meeting on innovation, sustainability and technology: Startup20, which starts on Friday, 23, in Macapá. In total, 19 foreign delegations confirmed their presence at the event, which is held by the Brazilian Startups Association, in partnership with the State Government and Sebrae.
South African representatives will share knowledge about the use of new technologies in accordance with sustainability practices, social responsibility and transparency. The biochemist and medical researcher Kruger Gooser He says that, during the flight to Amapá, he was enchanted by the landscape, especially the beauty of the rivers and the vast greenery of the Amazon forest.
“I feel very honored to be here, in a place as preserved as Amapá, with so much natural wealth, such as the Amazon River and great opportunities for sustainable entrepreneurship”, Gooser pointed out.
More than 600 people from all over the world are expected for the event. The program will feature panels, lectures, debates and technical visits until Monday, 26th. The president of the Brazilian Startup Association, Ingrid Bart, states that natural resources are among the main factors for the entity to choose Amapá as the venue for the world event. Furthermore, the state has great potential for the development of innovative businesses.
“Amapá was handpicked to host this event because it has startups that are extremely organized and engaged by professionals who have been developing phenomenal work, showing how brilliant Brazilian entrepreneurs are. We hope that this opportunity will be a key turning point for Amapá and Brazil”, Ingrid stressed.
Startup20 in Amapá
Amapá is home to the largest innovation and technology event in the world, Startup20, promoted by the Brazilian Association of Startups (Abstartups) in partnership with the State Government and Sebrae. The international event, unprecedented in Brazil, brings together authorities and representatives from several countries to debate innovative alternatives for the planet.
In 2023, during the 52nd Expofeira do Amapá, the State Government, which develops public policies to encourage innovation, entrepreneurship and the bioeconomy, signed a Letter of Intent that formalized the holding, on Amapá soil, of the meeting that officially opens a series of Startup20 events, which will take place in the country, during the year.
The global initiative, which had its first edition in India, is part of the actions of the Startup 20 Engagement Group, created by the G20, an organization of the world’s largest economies, which also includes other nations from the European and African Union.
