The defense of former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) once again asked the minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) Alexandre de Moraes to authorize access to Mauro Cid’s plea bargain. The lawyers argue that the release of the entire case file is “also a way of guaranteeing parity of arms in the investigative procedure.”

Bolsonaro’s statement to the Federal Police is scheduled for this Thursday (22). He is the target of the investigation investigating an alleged attempted coup d’état. This is the third request made by the defense to access Cid’s deletion this week. The lawyers also requested the media obtained from the cell phones seized during the investigation and that Bolsonaro be exempt from appearing in person at the PF. Moraes denied the requests.

The minister stated that lawyers can access the investigation files, with the exception of information on ongoing investigations and the denunciation. He maintained the date of the hearing and highlighted that it is not up to the former president to “choose the date and time of his interrogation.”

“Through a complete analysis of the evidentiary elements, it is possible to verify the consistency and coherence of possible imputations and accusations, as well as point out possible flaws or mistakes in the investigations carried out”, said the defense in the document sent to the STF this Wednesday (21), informed the portal UOL. In the petitions presented on the 19th and 20th, the lawyers stated that Bolsonaro will remain silent during the testimony.
