South American Beach Volleyball Circuit arrives on the 7th day of competition, at Ponta Negra in Manaus

Manaus (AM) – This Saturday (6), Manaus City Hall, through the Manaus Sport Foundation (FME), continued with the disputes in the 7th stage of the South American Beach Volleyball Circuit. On Ponta Negra beach, the last matches of the qualifying phase and the quarter-finals were held. Promoted by the South American Volleyball Confederation (CSV), the international competition is part of the action calendar for Manaus as “South American Sports City” in 2024.

The Circuit has athletes representing nine countries, with male and female pairs from Paraguay, Chile, Uruguay, Ecuador, Argentina, Peru, Brazil, Guyana and Bolivia. According to Marcelo Wangler, executive director of CSV, the city hall’s support for holding the international competition was essential.

“This partnership was a great opportunity for us at the South American Volleyball Confederation, because it is a stage of the South American Beach Volleyball Circuit here in Manaus, something different, something new, and we wanted to do a stage here . And it’s also good for the city, because it helps to develop the sport here”, he commented.

The director-president of FME, Aurilex Moreira, highlighted that the possibility of hosting this event is another award that Manaus receives after being named South American City of Sports, and reinforces the invitation for the population to attend the event free of charge.

“It’s a great opportunity not only for the public, but also for athletes from Manaus, who can participate in a very high level event, because it’s been a long time since beach volleyball has been played in Ponta Negra at such a high level as it is currently being played. presented here by athletes, especially foreign athletes. For the locals, we see it as a great filming opportunity. We have athletes who have competed in the Olympics and World Cups here. I invite the population of Manaus to come and watch the final stretch and witness such a great event”, he concluded.

The program continues this Sunday (7), with the semi-finals and finals starting at 8am until the evening. The matches are broadcast live on the CSV channel, on YouTube, and have free entry to the public on the sands of Ponta Negra.
