Single candidate, Petraglia is acclaimed president of Athletico

Mario Celso Petraglia was acclaimed as president of Athletico on Monday night (11) at quadrennium 2023-2027, again heading the Administrative Council. In 2019, in the last electoral process, Petraglia was also acclaimed by the red-black association. He was not present at this Monday’s meeting, which was attended by 180 councilors.

Led by the 79-year-old leader, the “Athletico do Futuro” ticket (formerly CAPGigante) was the only one registered for the club’s elections. After several negotiations with the opposition Atlético de Novo, there was no fight and the management group had a composition with members from both movements.

President of the Deliberative Council, Aguinaldo Coelho Farias highlighted Furacão’s next step, with the transformation to Sociedade Anônima do Futebol (SAF).

“There is no succession, we have no successors. We will leave for the biggest jump in Athletico history Paraná. The club was designed until now to become a SAF. Athletico is lucky to have a serious businessman who is really thinking about the future of Athletico for our children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. It is in this way that I call on everyone on this council to provide unrestricted support for the SAF project by Mario Celso Petraglia and Clube Athletico Paranaense. We have a responsibility to make this club the biggest in the Americas”, said Farias.

The president of the Deliberative Council continued.

“Make it clear to all members that we will have responsibility and transparency to bring an investor into the club. And to investors, they need to understand that this club is united. We no longer have opposition”, he added.

The lawyer Henry Gaedewho was a likely candidate for Atlético de Novo, took a seat on the Administrative Council and spoke about the importance of unity at the club.

“I’m not going to call him back to the club because I feel like I never left. We didn’t exchange offenses at any time, not even in the most difficult moments, even with my issue of leadership in the opposition. I never mixed things up. Election is one thing, management is another . Differences are important within a growth process. Athletico is currently experiencing the most important political moment in recent times. There is no CAP Gigante or Atlético de Novo. There is the Athletico of the future, that’s what counts. I am very honored to be part of this advice. We have everything to make Athletico take an even bigger step.”

At this Monday’s meeting, the new members of the Administrative Council were also announced, made up of first vice José Lúcio Glomb and second vice Luiz Alberto Kuster, who will be alongside the president. The club also met the new members of the Supervisory Board and the Ethics and Discipline Chamber.

“When he invited me to occupy this honorable position, ‘I’m going, but we have to be Brazilian champions next year’. And that’s what we’re going to fight for, with strength, determination, race, and resources we won’t lack,” said Glomb .
