The Brazilian team’s training period at Granja Comary, in Teresópolis (RJ), for the Pre-Olympic tournament came to an end this Tuesday (16). Now, the team led by coach Ramon Menezes heads to Venezuela, where the competition will be held, between January 20th and February 11th.
The Brazilian team had been concentrated at Granja Comary since January 8th, carrying out activities in the gym and on the field. Furthermore, the Canarinho team played a training game, last Sunday (14), with Boavista, achieving a 2-1 victory. This Tuesday, in his last activity in Teresópolis, coach Ramon Menezes commanded a team of 11 against 11.
“When I arrived here, I said that I was at the head of a very promising generation and that one of our challenges was to instill competitiveness in the athletes’ minds. The training sessions were good in that sense, and the time was also suitable for us to make some changes. The important thing is that we are going to Venezuela, and everyone here already knows what to do and how to do it”declared the coach.
Ramon makes no secret of the fact that desire is the title of the competition. However, the coach makes it clear that the priority is to guarantee qualification for the next edition of the Olympic Games: “Wearing the Brazilian team’s shirt is already a big responsibility, it’s already a pressure. We have great confidence in the work. Brazil, in both editions of the Pre-Olympic, failed to become champion, but managed to qualify. So, it’s step by step, it’s a very important and very difficult competition.”

Brazil is in Group A of the Pre-Olympics, alongside Venezuela, Colombia, Bolivia and Ecuador. The Brazilian team’s debut will be on January 23rd, when they face the Bolivian team. Three days later the opponents will be the Colombians. Then the challenge will be the Ecuadorian team, on the 29th. The team’s last challenge in the group stage will be against the hosts on February 1st. All matches in this stage will be in Caracas, at the Brígido Iriarte Stadium.
