“Running saved my life.”

There are countless times that I heard this phrase during the year that I was in charge of the Na Corrida blog, here at Folha. They are stories of friends and acquaintances, anonymous readers and fellow participants. There are those who have overcome cancer, overcome a horn, or who have found running a symbol of the fight for racial and gender equality. I met those who use training to manage stress and anxiety, those who fight depression, those who have treated obesity. The list is huge, and shows the importance of running in people’s lives.

My case is less extreme. But I can say that running changed my life.

I started writing here during a transitional period in my career. I was proud of my past, but I still didn’t know what I was going to build for my future. And then came the invitation from friend Roberto Dias to occupy this space. I liked running and writing. Why not?

I’m still not a good runner, nor a good blogger. But this space allowed me to meet incredible people and go further than I expected.

Now it’s time to give my career a new direction. The challenge ahead is enormous, but at least now I know where to go. Running gave me this clarity. Unfortunately, the activities I will carry out do not allow me to continue writing here.

I’ll keep running. Running is for life. And I will publish texts on the subject again. I completed the marathon of writing for Folha. I’m already starting to think about the next one.

And you guys, please run. Do this for yourselves. One step at a time.

See you soon,

Rodrigo
