The School Paralympics have already started to bear fruit for Amapá. On the first day of competitions, this Friday (30), the Amapá delegation has already won 21 medals, all in athletics, so far. There were 11 gold medals, five silver and five bronze.

Luciele Rodrigues, gold medalist in shot put, states that she already knew the gold medal was coming, as that was her focus. “I went out there, did my best and got the gold,” she said.

The competition takes place at the Paralympic Training Center, in São Paulo, and continues until this Friday (01). The expectation is that Amapá will still obtain more medals and surpass the total of 55, achieved in the 2022 national stage. In August, in the regional stage, in Belém (PA), the Amapá delegation won 74 medals.

Amapá participates in the Paralympics with 70 members, 35 student-parathletes, from the municipalities of Macapá, Laranjal do Jari, Santana, Oiapoque and Pracuúba, competing in athletics, swimming, weightlifting, table tennis, among others.

In addition to the para-athletes, physiotherapists, physical trainers, technicians and teachers from the State Department of Sports and Leisure (Sedel), are part of the Amapá team, classified for the finals of the competition. The State Government guaranteed the team’s participation, ensuring air tickets, uniforms and warm clothing, delivered by governor Clécio Luís.
