Carnival in the Forest

This year, the associations’ parades will be held from February 1st to 3rd, at the Sambódromo

Manaus (AM) – Carnival in the Forest, promoted by the State Government, brings a set of actions that celebrate the most popular festival in Brazil in the month of February. The Department of Culture and Creative Economy, responsible for coordinating the event, works in partnership with the areas of security, health, transport and social in a program that extends across the city’s streets, convention center and municipalities.

This year, the Momesco calendar starts earlier and opens with the samba school parades, at the Gilberto Mestrinho Convention Center, the Sambódromo. The public will enjoy great shows on the 1st and 2nd of February, from 9pm, when the schools in access groups B and A parade, respectively, and on the 3rd of February, it is the turn of the special group, according to with the following order:

1st – Unidos do Alvorada – 8pm to 9:10pm
2nd – Gypsy Wanderings – 9:20 pm to 10:30 pm
3rd – Vila da Barra – 10:40 pm to 11:50 pm
4th – United Kingdom of Freedom – 00h to 01h10
5th – Independent Youth of Aparecida – 01:20 am to 02:30 am
6th – Large Family – 2:40 am to 3:50 am
7th – Vitória Régia – 4am to 5:10am
8th – Dragons of the Empire – 5:20 am to 6:30 am

According to the Secretary of Culture and Creative Economy, Marco Apolo Muniz, the parades at the Sambódromo represent the manifestation of the feelings of those who experience Carnival.

“These are shows taken to the avenue that were designed and produced involving communities, culture makers and the entire Carnival production chain. The parades bring a fusion of popular rhythm with Brazilian creativity and culture, generating thousands of jobs and boosting our economy”,

highlights the secretary.

Still at the Sambadrome, on February 5th, the scores for the samba schools will be determined: 10am for access A and B and 2pm for the special group.

Continuing the Carnival in the Forest 2024 program, Carnaboi and the warm-ups of the party that opens the bovine season, take place at the Studio 5 Convention Center, in the Industrial District, with free entry. Therefore, Carnaboi’s warm-ups take place from February 5th to 7th, in the Studio 5 plenary session, from 7pm to 11:30pm. And the party itself, Carnaboi 2024, will be on the 9th and 10th of February, from 7pm to 2:30am, in the convention center pavilion.

The city streets and municipalities are also dressed in revelry. Through a notice, 51 small, medium and large Carnival blocks, in the capital and interior, were awarded cultural support from the Government of Amazonas, through the Secretariat of Culture and Creative Economy.

Contributing to the decentralization of carnival actions, for the second consecutive year, the North area of ​​Manaus hosts the Povão Carnival, at Parque Mindu Norte, in Novo Aleixo. From the 9th to the 11th, the schools from the Manaus Carnival experimental group will perform at Alameda Alphaville.
