With Amapá’s good results in the Brazilian School Games (JEB’s), under-18 basketball and football are expected to compete in the International School Games, in 2024, in China, as informed by the state secretary of sport and leisure, Rudney Cunha, in the morning this Friday (10) on the LuizMeloEntrevista program (Diário FM 90.9).

The head of Sedel gave the information when evaluating the state’s performance at the Brazilian School Games (JEB’s) 2023, which ended on Thursday (09), in Brasília, in which Amapá won 29 medals, surpassing the 22 it won last year. The state participated in the competition with a delegation of 246 people.

“Due to the good results that student sports in Amapá have achieved in competitions outside the state, we were invited to make two teams to represent Brazil in the International School Games. We are going to bring great results”, revealed Secretary Rudney.

At the Brazilian School Games, wrestling was the sport that gave the Amapá delegation the most medals – eight, two of which were gold, one silver and five bronze. The majority of athletes who participated in the competition are part of the social project ‘Knocking out drugs and ending violence’, of the Military Police, in the North Zone of Macapá, with Wanderson Panda as coordinator and support from Sedel.

Also on the LuizMeloEntrevista program, ‘Panda’ reported that wrestling was implemented in 2015 in the social project, and today it is the project’s flagship. “So much so that the results don’t lie. We got 15 scholarship athletes and one international scholarship and this shows that the work is done correctly”, he celebrated.
